Our Reach

Empowering Women Through Education

Health education and community outreach are low-cost, high-impact interventions that empower women to make informed choices about health care. A belief in good health through good information is a driving force behind the work of Magee Womancare International. Informed women are able to assume greater responsibility for their health, improving health outcomes for themselves and their families.

MWI has found that, in many countries, most access to health information occurs with health professionals in clinical settings. Yet there are numerous opportunities to empower and inform women about critical health issues by taking health messages outside of traditional settings and into the community. MWI works with local partners to develop and facilitate successful educational outreach models on women’s and children’s health issues.

MWI and its Eastern European network of more than 30 women’s health education centers offer programs in preventive health to more than 100,000 women and girls annually. These innovative health resource centers also have published and distributed more than 25 original educational health brochures and three instructional videos on reproductive health, prepared childbirth, and adolescent health.
